Josh Santeramo has called Las Vegas and Henderson his home for 19 years. Born into a family of immigrants on his mother's side and raised by a stepfather from New Jersey who served in the Navy, he grew up in the Northern California Bay Area. After living in San Francisco for many years, Josh moved to Concord, where he attended the famed De La Salle High School before completing undergraduate studies at the University of California, Davis.
During his formative years, he developed his calling for public service, influenced by his experiences with the unhoused in San Francisco and his own upbringing as a child in a working class household. As a teenager, he volunteered with the St. Anthony's Foundation serving meals, and worked with Habitat for Humanity and his local church to build affordable housing. While in college, Josh joined the organization Student Action for Veterans Equity (SAVE) in their fight to pass the Filipino Veterans Fairness Act and serve local Filipino veteranos and their families struggling with medical, food, and housing insecurity. He also joined with volunteer groups committed to the reopening of the I-Hotel in 2005, taking part in street teams that went into the community to sign up individuals for housing voucher programs.
In 2007, Josh relocated to Las Vegas in order to meet his biological father, who served for 20 years in the Special Forces as a Green Beret, and his brothers. He also attended law school here at the University of Nevada, William S. Boyd School of Law, graduating with the Class of 2010.
Fifteen years in Clark County courts with a litigation-first career and a service mindset.
Josh has now served as an attorney in Clark County for the past 15 years. He began his career in private practice, gaining experience litigating in personal injury, employment, and criminal defense. After ten years, he made the decision to return to his calling in public service by becoming a Deputy Attorney for the State with Nevada Attorneys for Injured Workers, an agency dedicated to serving injured workers who have had their benefits denied and are pending appeal. The work he is doing now is amongst the most fulfilling and important of his career.
Las Vegas life, public service, and a home built around family.
Outside of work, Josh is also a dedicated family man. His wife is a lawyer with the Clark County Public Defender's Office. They are full-time dog lovers and have raised five together so far. But most importantly, their greatest achievement was having a rambunctious four-year-old daughter, who is already very into taekwondo. Guess she's going to be a fighter too.
